The Walkman W202 embodies all of what Sony stands for including the price. The W202 headset styled MP3 player with its heart shaped design represents 'The Heart of Music'. Built for righties, the right earpiece has all the controls. Sony has equipped the player with a new function called Zappin, which is a preview function for playing music. Syncing is easy via Windows Media player or Sony's Walkman Content Transfer PC application. It doesn't support DRM song transfers though. Files can be copy pasted onto the drive or even via your iTunes library as other options.
The lack of a display forces you to memorize the button placement and sequences for functions. The instructions are all available in the brochure. Audio quality is great. With a decibel level that can be heard all around and a serious thump in the bass line the W202 makes for a great stand alone MP3 player for the active jogger or anyone who likes music while working out. Sony's AVLS (Automatic Volume Limiter System) allows you to set a volume limit under the peak level. Battery life is better than average at 12 hours and 50 minutes.
