I want to upgrade my graphic card ?

I am currently using a Compaq desktop, model sr5250, with 1 GB of RAM. I want to upgrade the graphics, so I was looking at getting a graphics card for about Rs 5k. I don't know which one would be compatible. Can you suggest a card which has 1 GB of VRAM? My applications are basic gaming, movie watching and movie editing. I do realize that before adding the graphics card, I will also have to upgrade the SMPS. Can you suggest something in about Rs 2.5k?

Within your budget, you can get a Sapphire HD4650 with 1 GB DDR2 VRAM. If you can stretch by a few hundred more, you can get a Palit NVidia 9600GT Sonic with 1 GB DDR3 which will offer better performance. Both these cards use the PCle interface, so they will be compatible with your motherboard. And you're right about the SMPS. Get a CoolerMaster within your budget.
