Upgrading CPU, But to What?

Hi Friends!

I’m presently running on a BFG 680i SLI Motherboard and desire to improve my processor from an E6750 2.66GHz (333 x 8).

As this is a 680i board behind 1333FSB, it supports only Core 2 Duo 65nm (Conroe), Core 2 Duo 45nm (Wolfdale) and Core 2 Quad 65nm (Kentsfield).

Are their any choices I have lost out?

Something I have not measured?

Because at the instant I would appear the E8500 is a chip that is not only good worth per presentation but will overclock to stupid speeds.

I perform many gaming in 5040*1050 res, improvement to I7-920 is not an alternative, I'd be examination £200 for m/b, £220 for CPU and £130 for Ram.

Well, I wouldn't yet observe any of those double cores if you want to improve because all you are purchasing is clock speed, just overclock it if you desire a higher clock speed. Rely on what you are using it for if you require a quad core or not.

If you desire to change mobos it is a superior time to control to AMD cuz LGA 775 will be deceased in a year or two and a 955 BE then Overclock it. This will give you alike FPS to a 920 for fewer.

The m/b would require supporting 3way SLi, do AMD present such belongings?

BFG 680i SLI Motherboard,

Coolermaster 1100 UCP PSU
Antec P193 Case Memory - 1415/1242 Shader)
Matrox Triple Head2Go Digital

If I were you, I'd squash all of the additional Dual Cores since it won't be greatly of an improve.

E8500 will satisfactorily OC though, (4.5 GHz +). I’m pretentious I am CPU bound on most games; will the extra through place not be obvious?

Well similar. I am playing games many and Quad cores directed to catch my eyes enhanced. Individually I've congested on Q8400 but the quad ones you've selected are good aswell.

The cause I didn't register any of the Q8xxx or Q9xxx is because they are 45nm Yorkfield cores that my 680i SLI board can NOT hold up.
