Accessing an FTP Site Through Internet Explorer

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is the language utilized to move files from computer to computer over the internet or over a network.

To access files from a remote site you require recognizing a few things. Initially you will need to recognize the FTP site address or IP Address. If the site needs a login name and password you will have to acquire these as well. Some sites permit for anonymous login where you do not require a name and password.

The further step is to release Internet Explorer (or any other web browser) and type in the site address in the address bar. You will require to type and then the address or IP address.

If the FTP site needs you to login you can right click anywhere and choose Login As and type in your data.

After you have effectively logged on you will see the obtainable folders that you have permission to access. It will appear very like your Windows Explorer or My Computer view. From here you can copy and paste files and folders from your local hard drive to the FTP site and vice versa. Remember that you will want to have the proper permissions to add, alter or remove files from the FTP site. These permissions will be allocated to your user account by the manager of the FTP site.
