Displaying Hidden File Extensions in Windows - Windows Tips

Windows hides file additions for recognized file types. File additions are three letters or numbers after name of file like resume.doc. File additions tell Windows what application to open file with. It is simple to create Windows display file additions for all your files.

How to make Windows display file extensions that will not illustrate still if you place them. To make these additions show opens My Computer or Windows Explorer. Go to Tools menu and then Folder Options. Click on file types tab and locate the file extension you desire to have shown.

Then click on advanced button and verify box that says Always show addition.

You can also adapt icon for type of file among other actions. This won’t work for file additions .pif and .lnk. It’s perhaps as these are frequently utilized for viruses
